Great Britain Paralympian Fran Williamson and local MP Henry Bellingham were both visitors at Smithdon High School, Hunstanton on Friday.

A group of students at Smithdon embarked on their Living for Sport project which is funded by Sky Sports.

The project is designed to support students to boost self confidence, change behaviour, increase attainment and improve life skills through the medium of sport.

The Sky Sports Athlete mentor for this year’s cohort was Williamson who is a retired Paralympic swimmer with cerebral palsy. In her 10 years of representing GB, she racked up an impressive array of medals, including 13 World Championship and six Paralympic medals.

During the session Fran gave the students an insight into her background with strong messages relating to determination and taking opportunities when they arise.

North West Norfolk MP Henry Bellingham also dropped in to show his support for the project and spent time chatting to both the students and Williamson.

At the end of a very rewarding day Williamson commented on what a fantastic group of students they were and how well they had taken to the challenge of the project.
