week seven

It was a free week in the King’s Lynn Table Tennis League with the focus changing to cup competitions.

The Dove Joinery Challenge Cup saw an all-Division One affair with Ambit Projects beating Greenfingers 9-0.

The Pegg Scaffolding Handicap Cup pitted Premier League leaders Topspynn against Division One Runcton Holme.

The Runcton side of Melvyn Jupp, Nick Osborne and Graham Warren started with a 203-point lead but Topspynn’s Karl Brown, Richard Johnson and Ross Brown chipped away at the difference and the match went to the wire, Topspynn winning by one point 403-402.

Another close match saw Premier team Ziggys give Division One Greenfigers a 243-point lead. Gary Hewitt, John Blyth and Allan Nicholls were pushed all the way to the last game by Mike Cooper, Stuart Frost and Gordon Penny. They eventually won 399-395.

The final Handicap Cup match was dominated by Wisbech Wizards who beat Division One side Wasps ‘2’ by 466-399.
