Ryston Runners Track and Field team started off 2016 in style by taking home plenty of medals and personal bests at the Keith Ward and Norfolk County Indoor Championships.
David MacQueen, now in his final year in the under 11 age group, took a pair of wins in the Long Jump and 60 metres, with a personal best in the latter. George Evans, also competing in the U11 Boys, leapt to a new Long Jump best, beating his previous distance by 20cm.
Fresh from their achievements in the South of England Combined events, U17 Girls Naomi Darkins and Holly Chen pulled out some impressive performances. Naomi earned a UK ranking in the High Jump, jumping 1.45m, which was good enough for second. Holly took second in the 60m with a new PB of 8.4, and was agonizingly close to a new Triple Jump PB while placing third. Gaye Clarke performed well in the SW Long Jump.
Hannah Brown won the U20G 60m with a new PB time of 8.4. In the U13 Girls Anna Wood ran brilliantly in her heat to make the final with a PB of 9.1 seconds. Bea Honeybone performed well in the shot with a throw of 5 metres, a PB.
It was a busy day for the Senior Men. Gareth Hunt took home gold in both the Long Jump and High Jump, as well as taking 0.7 seconds off his 60m hurdles PB for silver. David Lane pulled out solid performances in the Shot, Long Jump, High Jump, Triple Jump and 60 metre sprint and took home a medal or two.
Ryston was also well represented in the officiating and administrating, with Helen and Jeff Reed field judging, Paul Firmage and Cath Duhig track judging, Gaye Clarke timekeeping, and Rebecca Tuff working on results output.
