Ryston Runners were in action on Sunday with the team racing on the 10 and 20 mile courses at the St Edmunds Pacers event through stunning Suffolk countryside, writes Jeremy Navrady.
In what turned out to be almost perfect conditions of winter sunshine, a cool breeze and a stiff back wind on the second half, Eamonn McCusker and Maureen Wolfe took the M60 and F55 honours respectively in the 20 mile race.
Also of note, Nicholas Bensley demolished his personal best (PB) by almost 10 minutes to take second place in the M45 category while being the first Ryston Runner home in 2:09:02 in 12th place.
l Mark Doughty was the sole Ryston Runner in the Sleaford Half Marathon, where he clocked 1:42:38 to place 189th.
l On Saturday Cath Duhig took her first tentative competitive steps for some months.
Competing in the Enfield League 5-mile racewalking fixture at Donkey Lane (Queen Elizabeth Stadium), Enfield, she placed 16th overall/fourth woman (and the oldest woman in the field) in a time of 52:22.
