The 2017 season opener of Stock Car and Banger Racing proved to be an action packed night at the Adrian Flux Arena last Saturday.

Despite heavy rain preceding the event Keith “Buster” Chapman and his team once again excelled themselves to provide a fantastic racing strip which the drivers used to produce some exceptional racing and action.

World Champion Simon Welton (Norwich) became the first driver to win the 2L Stock Car Clive Grief Memorial Final twice when he repeated his success of last year!

Local star Lee Sampson was in great form finishing the final in seventh place which was backed up with a fifth place in his heat.

Former National Banger Points Champion Terry Garrod made his debut in the 1300 Stock Cars and soon got to grips with the formula, qualifying for the final through the consolation where he came home in seventh place.

Lynn’s Scott Aldridge failed to start his heat in the BriSCA F2 Stock Cars with mechanical problems but still qualified for the final through the consolation which he led for a long period. Aldridge then did his hopes of making an F2 Stock Car Semi-Final no harm at all with a great fifth place finish in the final which was won by Tony Blackburn.

Stock Car and Banger Racing returns to the Adrian Flux Arena on Saturday, March 18 when the National Bangers make their first appearance of the 2017 season proper with the 1500cc Bangers in action.

The 2L Stock Cars are back following their action packed opener and completing the programme are the Lady Bangers who will be making their first appearance of the season.
