A packed month of Stock Car and Banger Racing action at Lynn’s Adrian Flux Arena begins with two days of racing this weekend (tomorrow, 5pm; Sunday, 1pm).

There is a massive entry of cars for tomorrow’s Summer Carnival Night, headlined by the Unlimited Bangers Pre-1985 ‘Big Reunion’ and also featuring qualifying for the Two-Litre Saloon Stock Car National Championship, plus three-wheeled racing in the shape of Reliant Robins.

Then on Sunday, the Saloon Stock Cars contest their National Championship Final and Steve Newman Memorial, and are joined by 1300cc Stock Cars and Two-Litre (non-Mondeo) Bangers.

Tomorrow night’s Banger Racing is set to build on May’s fantastic Heinegone event, with nearly 100 pre-1985 classic cars booked to race.

Leading drivers will travel from across the country to take on the likes of top hometown driver Darren Fendley, Swaffham’s Terry Garrod and Lynn livewire Luke Allen together with the always-entertaining Sam Coote (Dersingham). The meeting should also feature the senior debut of former Junior Banger superstar Kieran Bowman.

Garrod will return for more on Sunday, when he will be joined by brother Ashley and Lynn driver Paul Bowen who always tracks impressive machinery. Fellow hometown racers Ross Cooper, Ben Green and Jamie Childerhouse should be in the thick of the action.

Lynn-based Lee Sampson will be hoping to add the Saloon Stock Car National Championship to the British title he won in Devon in June. Sampson is a former winner of the National, when it was held in Lynn eight years ago.

“That was a brilliant night, I still remember it now,” Sampson recalled. “It would be good to get it again but there’s a lot of other drivers out there who are more than capable of taking it,” he added.

Sampson’s brother Jamie and Heacham-based Willie Skoyles Jr will also be among the title favourites.

Completing Sunday’s action are the 1300cc Stock Cars where Points Champion Wes Freestone (Lynn) will be hoping to extend the lead he has in this year’s points championship over Gemma Rainer (Norwich). Wes will be joined by brothers Austen and Ryley whilst Chris Brown and Stephen Walden (both Lynn) are both also expected to be involved.

It promises to be full of action and, with free kids’ funfair rides on both days as well as lots more going on, it will be a weekend for all the family to enjoy.
