Mountain bikers from Lynn MTB Club tackled the first round of the 2014/15 Thetford MTB winter series at the relatively flat course of Santon Downham, near Brandon.
The course was just over six miles a lap. There were a couple of technical sections, with pits and bomb holes with the remainder of the course consisting of fire roads and single track.
This area of the Thetford Forest is notorious for the endless undulations and the best way to travel through these is to stand and push a big gear, or otherwise it’s a very bumpy ride!
The rain also added to the mix, as almost 400 competitors were waiting on the start line when the heavens opened, thus making the riding very tough.
Lynn MTB Club were well represented for the first round, as 12 of its members entered various categories with mixed results.
The ride of the day was by Sean Rayment (24) who battled to an excellent third place, being one of only nine riders from 87 in his category who managed five laps in the allocated time.
