Swaffham Garrod brothers plan bumper banger weekend

Have your say

Fans of four-wheeled racing have a double dose of action at Lynn’s Adrian Flux Arena this Easter weekend, with meetings tomorrow (5.30pm) and Easter Monday (1pm).

Tomorrow night sees Micro and Junior Bangers racing, joined by Two-Litre Saloon Stock Cars. Then on Monday afternoon, the main crashing action comes from 4x4 SUV Bangers – where bigger cars mean bigger crashes – backed up by Two-Litre Bangers, crazy racing from three-wheeled Reliant Robins and 1300cc Stock Cars.

Lynn’s Lee Sampson and Heacham-based Willie Skoyles Jr will both be in action in the Saloon Stock Cars. Each had reasonable meetings last weekend without reaching their usual heights.

Swaffham brothers Terry, Ashley and Jack Garrod are among the drivers planning to race in all three Banger categories over a very busy weekend. Lynn’s Shaun Clarke features in the 30-plus entry of SUVs plus the Micro Bangers alongside many more locals on the near-100-car booking list.

Lynn-based brothers Wesley, Austen and Ryley Freestone are 1300cc Stock Car experts but will also be competing in Bangers.

Other local drivers in action in the Micro Bangers include Bruno Norman (Swaffham), plus Kevin Freestone, Ross Klyn, Kieran Bowman, Karl Thorpe, Chris Loveridge, Jack Goodey, Jamie Childerhouse, Jake Burgess, Simon Eglen, Ben Green, Luke Childerhouse and Richard Ward (all Lynn).

Drivers in the 2L Bangers include George Hanna, Kieran Bowman, Jamie Childerhouse, Ross Cooper and Kevin Cooper whilst the 4x4 Bangers will include Sam Coote (Dersingham), Tom Reynolds and Luke Godfrey (both Heacham).

Racing alongside the Two-Litre Saloon Stock Cars last weekend was a very large field of BriSCA Formula One Stocks Cars in their season-opener.

The celebrated Frankie Wainman Jr rolled back the years to put on a dominant display in his new car. Yorkshireman Wainman scorched to success in both his heat and the meeting final, before placing third in the grand national.
