Nine games have taken place over the last couple of weeks in the Fakenham Table Tennis League with Thorpe Trafalgar being involved in four of them and having mixed results.
They narrowly lost 6-4 to Eagles as they found Jack Bramwell in top form scoring a maximum, Archie Rayner replied with two and teamed up with his dad Simon to win the doubles. They hit back with a 10-0 win over Bircham B with Ben Andrews, Simon and Archie Rayner too strong for the Bircham team of Paul King, Stefan Iwanczyk and Neville Lingwood.
A local derby between Thorpe Nelson and Trafalgar turned out to be a very close game ending in a 5-5 draw, four of the players winning two games each – Mary-Ann Woodhouse and Mick Ruffles for Nelson with Simon and Archie Rayner replying for Trafalgar.
Last game up for Thorpe was a tight 6-4 win at Snoring B, Ian Reynolds winning two for the home side backed up by Martin Boddy and Keith Beswick with one each.
But man of the match Archie Rayner scored a maximum and teamed up with Simon Rayner in the doubles to secure the win.
Bircham B had a close 5-5 match with Conservatives, Paul King, Neville Lingwood and Stefan Iwanczyk hosting Dennis Chamberlain, Graham Thomas and Pat Johnson. Chamberlain was man of the match with a fine maximum but a superb five leg win by Thomas over Lingwood and playing with Chamberlain in the doubles to secure the draw for Conservatives.
Bircham A (Aaron Howell with Andy and Laura Marsh) were involved in two close games. Firstly they hosted a Snoring A team of Steve Damms, Steve Price and Chris Fuller. Howell played superbly to win his three but a win for Damms and two wins apiece for Price and Fuller along with a tight doubles match gave the visitors a 6-4 win.
Bircham A then travelled to Eagles and came away with a 6-4 win. With Howell unavailable for Bircham Colin Humphreys came into the side alongside Andy and Laura Marsh against John Welsh, Jack Bramwell and Kris Wisla. Andy Marsh bagged a fine maximum including a five set win over Bramwell and Laura also had a fine win over John Welsh.
Humphreys chipped in with two wins as did Bramwell in reply.
Eagles hit back with a 7-3 victory over Thorpe Nelson with Jack Bramwell in good form winning three and John Welsh with a brace, Mary-Ann Woodhouse hit back with two wins and took Bramwell to five legs. Steve Hales had a excellent five leg win over Kris Wisla but Welsh and Wisla teamed up in the doubles for Eagles.
Conservatives travelled to Billingford but found the hosts in top form as all the matches were decided in three legs.
Andrew Edgeley picked up Conservatives’ only win against Tony Wright.
Pete Fuller and David Lake both scored maximums with Lake and Wright teaming up in the doubles to make it a 9-1 victory.
