Perry Park, Birmingham was the venue for rounds three and four of the British BMX National series, and this proved to be a very successful weekend for Alan (44), Kyle (12) and Jared (7) Hill from Lynn.
Saturday (round 3) got off to a great start with Alan, Kyle and Jared each taking wins in their respective qualifying heats. Alan won 40-44 cruiser and took third in Master’s (30+). Kyle had his best national success in the eight years he has been racing with a second in 13-14 cruiser and reaching the semi-final stages in the 13 boys. Kyle’s personal goal was to make the semi’s in 13’s and he was very happy that this was achieved.
Jared rode strongly all day and led the final of the 8 yr old boys from start to finish.
Day two and Kyle started off with a heavy crash in his first race of the day. Slightly sore and winded, Kyle shook it off and went on to reach yet another semi in the 13 boys and third in 13-14 cruiser in a determined and commendable effort.
Jared dominated his age group, (a very strong, competitive field of 43 riders) winning his heats, quarter, semi and then the final. This was Jared’s first ever double win and his fourth national win in three years of racing. Not to be outdone by his sons, Alan also dominated the 40-44 cruiser class but by the time the Masters final came round, tiredness and 20 laps of racing took their toll and Alan finished fifth. Rounds five and six are held in Cumbernauld, Scotland in May.
