Two of West Norfolk AC’s finest young emerging talents competed in the South Of England Indoor Championships at the weekend, both in the 60m hurdles.

Under 20 athlete James Greenhalgh (aged 17) was just outside his personal best (8.85) in the semi-final but placed third to earn his first appearance in a final at this level. In the final Greenhalgh equalled his PB to run an excellent 8.75 for sixth place.

Senior hurdler Matthew Bailey (20) ran a personal best (8.83) in the heat to qualify for the semi. Bailey was not put off by GB hurdler Andy Pozzi running in the lane next to him and running the fastest time in the UK this year. In the semi-final Bailey ran a quicker 8.77 for fifth place. Both runs were club records at the senior age group.

Both athletes also competed in the 60m flat primarily to practice their starts as this event was before the hurdles, both running a season’s best. Overall this was an excellent performance from the duo.
