West Norfolk boys are county U12 badminton doubles runners-up

Have your say

Several of the younger West Norfolk Junior Badminton players entered the Norfolk under-12 county championships, competing against some experienced county opposition, and showing much promise for the future.

David Flannigan and Jack Leverett were the most successful West players, finishing runners-up in the boys doubles.

They won their first two matches, including defeating fellow West player, Frederick Lo with his Norwich partner in round two, after both pairs won their first round.

David and Jack were only beaten by top county players and the number one seeds in the final.

In the boys singles, all three West boys won their first round matches to reach the quarter-finals.

However, Jack went one step further, making the semi-finals and only losing to the eventual winner by 11-21, 9-21.

In the girls singles, Paige Roper won her first match, defeating fellow West player Cadence Staff 21-14, 21-10 to get to the quarter-final.

After losing her first round match, Amy Howard from Docking went on to win the girls singles plate competition.

Paige and Amy did very well to win their first round doubles match 21-10, 21-9.
