The West Norfolk League finished as runners-up in the annual Collin Extall Memorial Event.

The event was kindly hosted by the Morley Club Sheringham, and indeed it was the home team of the Alby League who won the event.

West Norfolk’s side of Dean Bavister, John Heyhoe, Mark Tims and Phill Welham tied with Alby on games won, but lost the title on aggregate points scored.

Dave Nichols (Alby) recorded the day’s highest break of 130, Phill Welham for West Norfolk made a 108.

The Narbeck Junior League’s squad of Jack Easter, Ryan Jackson, Jack Pinner and Rochy Woods did well in their first entry to this event, with both Easter and Woods recording scratch wins over more experienced opposition.

West Acre A still lead, from local rivals West Acre B. Several notable performances were recorded last week.

Ryan Jackson (Narborough A) knocked in another 30+ break, this time 30 exactly when playing West Acre A.

Jack Pinner for Acre A recorded a 24, which is a new ‘p.b’ for Jack.

Billy Blake (10) recorded a season’s best score of 79 points for West Acre C, while Raelene Yule upped her personal best to 30 points when competing for West Acre D.

Well done to all these players on these fine achievements.

West Norfolk, who currently lay second in the league, travel to Norwich to play Norwich C on Saturday night.

The team to travel is Dean Bavister, Mark Mcintyre, Alex Ward and Bruce Welham.

West Acre’s Phill Welham reached the third round of this season’s National Championship, when qualifying at Cambridge Snooker Centre.

The two-times National Champion defeated Gary Norman (Peterborough), Arthur Winn (Chelmsford) and Mat Lyons (East Dereham) to top his qualifying group, Welham recording breaks of 157 and 108.

In preparation for this event Welham had played challenge matches against Norfolks no 5 and 7 ranked players.

Welham defeated Steve Wright (Thetford) 883(125, 50, 69, 78, 149, 92)-323(81) and then beat Jack Easter (West Acre) 1041(100, 66, 111, 76, 51, 76, 89, 92)-213,
