West Norfolk swimmers display Open Meet perfect timing

West Norfolk Swimming Club held its annual Open Meet recently at St. James Pool, Lynn.

Visiting clubs were welcomed from near and far, including Dereham, March, Great Yarmouth, North Norfolk Vikings, Thetford and St. Felix School (Southwold).

A packed programme of events offered a chance for all competitors to achieve new personal bests and experience some top level racing.

West Norfolk’s swimmers were in excellent form on home territory with many swimmers going home with numerous medals for top six placings.

The club’s new electronic timing system also had its debut on the day, with the instant display of results improving the overall experience for swimmers and spectators.

At the end of a busy day’s competition Freya Lines from St. Felix won the Top Girl Trophy, West Norfolk’s Nathan Wells was Top Boy, and St. Felix School were crowned Top Club.

Charlotte Isle organised the event with great precision and care, paying close attention to the finer details which ensured the whole day ran smoothly for everyone.

The club would like to thank Liam Harvey from Great Yarmouth for stepping in at short notice to offer invaluable help in recording the results, in conjunction with Barry White. Emma Rumbold was word perfect in race announcing and commentary.

Many thanks also to Stewart Murray for refereeing duties, Debbie Chandler for head timekeeping, and every official from all the participating clubs.

Many thanks to every other volunteer parent from West Norfolk who ensured medals were given out, raffle tickets sold, drinks distributed, etc.
