West Norfolk Under 15’s lost their first-ever county final to a strong Wymondham side on Sunday, with the final score 47-7 at North Wootton.
West Norfolk were in a confident mood having comprehensively beaten North Walsham in the semi-final.
From kick off Wymondham exerted pressure and it wasn’t long before strong running, powerful drives and missed tackles saw Wymondham take a two-try lead.
With a determined response West played excellent rugby before scoring a well worked try by Tom Hitchcock, converted by Jack Trundley.
The rest of the first half was an even match with neither side dominating play.
In the second half West started strongly but mistakes allowed Wymondham to score two soft tries.
Although West’s heads never dropped it was difficult to come back against a strong Wymondham side.
West must take great credit for reaching the Norfolk County Final (Norman Potter Trophy) for the first time and the coaching team praised the whole squad on their commitment to training and this season’s improved performances and understanding of playing as a team.
