The long-established Wissey Half Marathon hosted by local athletics club, Ryston Runners, on September 6 will be combined with the prestigious British Masters Athletic Federation (BMAF) championship.
The 13.1 mile road running race starting from Oxborough at 10.30am will wind its way through local roads in a loop back to the village.
While not completely flat, the race has proven popular with local athletes looking to test themselves on what has proven to be challenging particularly with some unexpected late summer heat.
The BMAF is a federation of geographically located clubs covering the whole of the UK with more than 5,000 active athletes including several in their 90s.
Their remit is to encourage, organise and regulate athletic events for men and women aged 35 years and over.
Race director Martin Ive commented: “It’s a fabulous accolade to have been chosen by the BMAF and with a race limit of 300.
“I am confident that the event is going to be more competitive than ever.
“The athletes from the BMAF bring an irresistible blend of experience and ability so I urge anyone who wishes to try out their fitness to enter the race promptly.”
