The King’s Lynn Young Stars speedway side have filled their team following the news that teenager Layne Cupitt, whose mentor is former world champion Tai Woffinden, will ride next year.
The 17-year-old is the seventh and final rider to sign up for Lynn’s 2015 National League campaign.
Keen fans at the Norfolk Arena will recognise Cupitt’s name from the Midland Development League side and he has also filled in for the Young Stars during 2014.
Young Stars team manager Dale Allitt said of the prospect: “He rode for our Midland Development League side and he is 17, which is what our club is about.”
Cupitt’s sister is the partner of home speedway sensation and 24-year-old former world champ Woffinden, who has given the Newark-based tyro much encouragement.
Allitt commented: “I had quite a long chat with Tai before Christmas. He’s been part of why Layne has come into the sport.
“Tai is someone that he can look up to, and is not that much older than he is, which helps.
“Layne is our asset. Five of our riders for next year are associated with the club,” continued Allitt, who hopes that Cupitt will follow in the footsteps of other riders at the club who have included Lewis Kerr, Lewis Rose and Simon Lambert.
This trio are among the many riders who have risen to a higher level after appearing for the Young Stars.
