Newcomers post fast times at Sandringham
Newcomers were to the fore at Sandringham parkrun number 205 at the weekend.
Leading the field home was Andy Williamson, clocking an impressive 20:11, while Kelly Percival, a first-time visitor to Sandringham, was the first female finisher in 23:48.
Times on the day ranged from Williamson’s sharp pace to a determined 1:07:03, a reminder that parkrun celebrates effort and achievement in all forms.
There was a strong showing from newcomers too, with 56 first-timers tackling the Sandringham course, including 10 runners taking part in their very first parkrun.
A warm welcome went to Mathew and Joanne Bell, Liz Buttigieg, Emma Andrews, Suheyla Ismal, Kristy and Bella Griffin, Kayleigh Bennifer, Sam Marsdon, and Cathy Cussell.
Paul Curson, Helen Hall, Adrian Parr, Simon Coates and Jane Taylor all notched up their 50th parkrun, while Gavin Lane and Philip Williamson reached an impressive 200.
The morning’s top age-grade performance came from Michael Jefferys (Vegan Runners), who achieved an outstanding 75.67%, followed by Gwen Bombroffe with 71.67%.
Fourteen runners recorded new personal bests, showing that the crisp autumn air provided just the right conditions for fast times.
As always, the event couldn’t have happened without the efforts of the volunteer team.
Special congratulations to Margaret Coated for reaching 25 volunteer credits, and Pauline King, who marked her 100th while taking on the Run Director role for the day.
Sandringham parkrun takes place every Saturday at 9am, with all abilities welcome. If you’d like to volunteer or get involved, email sandringham@parkrun.com
