Nine-man King's Lynn suffer defeat at Buxton in National League North
Nine-man King's Lynn Town relinquished top spot in the National League North as Michael Clunan and Joshua Barrett both saw red at Buxton this afternoon.
Clunan and Barrett both received their marching orders in quick succession in the second half after Tommy Elliott had scored the only goal of the contest at the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium.
The hosts missed plenty of chances to build up an even bigger advantage as Lynn – who handed recent signing Jacob Jones his debut – delivered an off-colour display on their travels.
But the game was unfortunately spoilt by the man in the middle who brandished ten yellow cards in an encounter where there wasn't a bad tackle.
Clunan was the first to see red after picking up his second yellow card midway through the second half before Barrett suffered the same fate two minutes later
To their credit the nine-men of Lynn worked their socks off in the final 20 minutes and could perhaps count themselves unlucky not to have bought home a point late on.
With AFC Fylde winning 3-1 at home to Curzon Ashton, Lynn slipped to second in the league standings.
