North Runcton Cricket Club forms a third team to play in Norfolk Cricket League

North Runcton Cricket Club's family has just got bigger and better with the formation of a further Saturday team.

The club, which already fields two sides in Norfolk Alliance, is thrilled to announce that a newly formed Saturday 3rd XI team has been officially accepted into the Norfolk Cricket League.

Club chairman, John Williams said: “Our new 3rd XI aims to provide incredible opportunities for talented young players to shine on the Saturday league cricket stage, with some older and experienced heads there to support and encourage, as well as looking to play good cricket.

"This is not just a team; it's a stepping stone for our rising stars being part of a League team, fostering a culture of growth, camaraderie, competition and love for the game”.

Ben Newton, freshly appointed captain for the side, added: “We will play our home games at Terrington Cricket Club, with huge thanks to them for their hospitality.

"We want everyone to come along and support the team and then return home to Runcton with us to enjoy standard NRCC-style post-match social entertainment.

"We can’t wait to get going and I am looking forward to an amazing season ahead, making memories, breaking boundaries and showcasing the true spirit of cricket."

This important development for the club is part of moving it forward in the modern cricket world, linking with ladies' and girls' cricket now to enjoy a greater focus on Sundays.

North Runcton will continue to run a Sunday League team but space will be opened up for ladies, and girls' games, as well as more youth cricket and, where possible, representative matches to ensure the club remains open and fully used all summer long.
