Mark Skipper hits a sublime unbeaten century as North Runcton triumph with wickets to spare
North Runcton entertained a strong, youthful Wisbech XI on Easter Saturday for their second pre-league season friendly and ran out winners in a closely-contested encounter, thanks in great measure to a sublime unbeaten century from Mark Skipper.
Wisbech batted first and made good early runs throughout their 45 overs, only pegged back towards the end of their innings by good bowling from Callum Eke and Joe Mayes.
A score of 202-4 looked challenging but reachable and the home side batted steadily with helpful contributions from Tim Coote and Harvey Cross, but it was thanks to a masterly century from Skipper, full of dabs and drives.
Skipper was well supported by Sri Sivaraman, returning from a pre-season tour to the Far East, and the home side took the honours with a few overs to go and with wickets in hand.
Junior coaching is held every Wednesday until the end of August, 6pm-7.30pm, for 8-15 year olds, and costs £5 per session.
