Pelicans made their way to Haverhill with a full squad including three subs.

The game started well and Pelicans were on the attack from the off with some excellent work in midfield from Jessica and Amelie Beck feeding the ball through to the forwards, keeping the pressure on the opposition.

Haverhill were strong on the break and managed to force their way into the D on a number of occasions despite some strong defending from Brogan Wright, Louisa Walker and Katie Page.

They managed to convert a short corner with a great strike in the bottom corner which put them up a goal.

Jessica Beck promptly equalised five minutes later.

With 15 minutes to go before the half time break, goalkeeper Atlanta Stevenson, defending a powerful shot on goal, took a ball to the knee which, despite her pads, meant she had to leave the pitch injured.

The whole team stepped up to the mark and denied any chance of letting the opposition increase the score, with Jane Hughes saving two great shots.

Atlanta returned to the pitch for the second half after treatment, but it did not prevent Haverhill from scoring twice more.

Some determined attacking from Tracy Brown paid off, with her scoring a great goal on her birthday. Pelicans were unlucky not to come away with a draw and had to settle with a 3-2 defeat.

4 Ways PoM: Brogan Wright for her sterling efforts in defence on only her second game for the team.
