With this being the first game back after the half-term break, Pelicans were in a determined mood to pick up some much-needed points.

And they didn't disappoint as they delivered a fantastic team performance which mirrored the team that started the season so well.

Right from the start Pelicans linked together well showing some great team play and following numerous passages of passing hockey an opening fell to Poppy Beales who calmly slotted the ball past the visiting goalkeeper.

It didn’t take too much longer for Pelicans to double their lead from a pinpoint defensive clearance pass out wide to Susie Lemon who drove forward and picked out forward Beales whose reverse-stick shot was drilled into the top corner.

The first half was rounded off with more great pressing runs from Lucy Lim and Grace Carrier who picked out Mia Moore on one wing and Laura Tea on the other.

Just before the half-time whistle, Carrier initiated a fast switch of play flashing a ball across the D for Tea to slot the ball home to make it 3-0.

Although Cambs came back in the second half, Pelicans were good value for the win.

n Following this season's Norfolk Academy (Player Pathway) activity, three Pelicans; Mia Moore, Lucy Sagrott and Amber Scott, along with one player from Harleston, one player from Dereham, one player from Norwich Dragons and six players from Norwich City, were selected to represent their county in the East Regional Finals, on Sunday, held at Rushmere in Suffolk.

Norfolk suffered three defeats, a 2-1 loss to Cambridgeshire, a 2- 1 loss to Essex and a 2-0 loss to Lincs, followed by a 2-0 win over Herts and a 4-0 win over Suffolk to finish fourth.

Moore captained the side, Scott contributed to the goal tally and Sagrott was outstanding in goal.

Thanks to all involved at Norfolk Hockey especially under-15 girls' coach Katie Ogden from Watton.

Players looking to take part in the Player Pathway next season should contact their respective coach at Pelicans.
