Dennis lofts bag first Clenchwarton Victory pigeon win of season




The Clenchwarton Victory raced from Sedgefield on Sunday, writes Kevin Mason.

The club is in its eighth week racing, and a first win of the season for Dale and Neil Dennis. Their winning yearling took 3hrs 19 mins to fly 151 miles.

Result: 1, 4, 5 Dale and Neil Dennis, velocities of 1336, 1288, 1287; 2, 6 Peter and Dave Ellwood, 1311, 1285; 3 Mr & Mrs George Dye, 1299.

King’s Lynn North RFC also raced from Sedgefield, when eight members sent 95 birds, and were liberated in a S.W. wind at 0730hrs. A new name at the top, when West Lynn racer Roger Wells won his first red card of the season. His blue Heremans Ceuster took 3 hrs 24 mins to fly 152 miles, and just beat the partnership of Riches and Anderson by seconds, in a very close race.

Result: 1 Roger Wells, 1309.5; 2 Riches & Anderson, 1309.1; 3 Her Majesty the Queen, 1305; 4 5, 6 Billy Mellett, 1291, 1271 (two birds).

New Lynn RPC’s latest race was from Lyndhurst, when six lofts sent 68 birds, and released in a SW wind at 0730 hrs. A sixth win of the season for the S.T.S. lofts, when their yearling took 2hrs 19 mins to fly 155 miles.

Result: 1, 2, 3 Jamie Stevens, Jay Thompson, Timmy Simper, 1723 (two birds) and 1715; 4, 6 Her Majesty the Queen, 1687, 1664; 5 Manning Brothers, 1684.

Wereham & Dist SR also raced from Lyndhurst when six members sent 83 birds. Rodney Cochrane cleaned up in the previous two races, but didn’t get the same result. He still managed to take the top spot when his De Backer x Verschoot took 2hrs 31 mins to fly the 145 miles.

Result: 1, 6 Rodney Cochrane, 1694, 1617; 2 Derek Miller, 1652; 3, 4 Richard Dunmore, 1651 (two birds); 5 Pat and Julie Royle, 1650.
