King's Lynn co-promoter praises “out and out number one”
King’s Lynn Stars co-promoter Dale Allitt praised “out and out number one” Craig Cook.
The Minors & Brady Stars feared the worst when Norfolk talisman Robert Lambert stated during the winter that he would not be racing in the UK for the first time in his senior speedway career as he is busy competing in the Grand Prix series and other continental commitments.
Fellow heat leader Erik Riss looked likely to follow Lambert before the UK’s coronavirus vaccination progress and the announcement that the Premiership campaign will begin on May 17 help to prompt an about-turn.
It means Lynn will have a double spearhead in Riss and Cook, pictured right, who had already confirmed his return.
British Speedway’s 2020 league season loss should be Lynn’s gain, as Allitt says Cook is champing at the bit after sitting out the few individual meetings on offer: “Craig is an out and out number one.
He is very close average-wise to Robert Lambert.
“In the league we’ve lost a few riders and Craig is probably the best British rider we could have.
“He has formerly been in the Grand Prix series and is a former British champion, and he ticks a lot of boxes.
“I have spoken to Craig about things and he is completely focused again.
“He’s been able to do a lot of mountain biking so you’ll see the results.
“When something has been taken away from you, you realise how important it is.”
