The ladies were up against it with two injuries to key players early on in the game leaving them short for 60 minutes.

Manager Ellie Bennington said: “I couldn’t be prouder of the team and the way we composed ourselves throughout the game. With obstacles early on, the team came together and worked hard.

“The final result didn’t go our way but we regroup and go again in two weeks’ time.”

Captain Vik Burkauskaite and vice-captain Josie Turner stepped up in their roles within the team and kept them going throughout the 90 minutes.

Overall a great team performance and many positives to take from the game even if the result isn’t one of them. The team wish a speedy recovery to both players and hope to see them back on the pitch soon.
