King's Lynn Stars race ace welcomes club sponsorship

King’s Lynn Stars’ experienced speedway rider Ty Proctor is glad new backers Minors & Brady signed up to support the club – they’re also one of his personal sponsors.

The Norfolk-based estate agents were announced as coming on board this season and had already linked up with the Australian.

The ex-Peterborough, Wolverhampton and Workington speedster said: “I got to know Alex (Brady) in 2018 and he started sponsoring me last year.

“There is a really good relationship between me and Alex. It all just started basically when we had a chat and then he helped me out a little bit.

“Then yes, the whole King’s Lynn thing came up and that’s really good for his company in building exposure and it’s really good for the club.”

On the initial approach between sponsor and rider, the Victorian-born 33-year-old revealed it was probably via social media: “I think it was via Twitter: he followed me on Twitter and the company followed me there.

“I followed them back and I sent him a message thanking him for the follow and it kind of led from there.

“We were just talking generally and I kind of said: Would you be interested in coming on board and he said here’s my number and we’ll have a chat.

“We spoke on the phone and it was like a general chat, not a sponsorship relationship but I just enjoyed talking to him and vice versa, I imagine, and it kind of led from there and they helped me out.

“To be fair, all my sponsors that were from King’s Lynn stuck with me and understood the situation and they all came back on board whether I was going to be at King’s Lynn or not, which I’m very fortunate about.”

Minors & Brady Estate Agents & Lettings are independently run and are based in the county, with offices in Wroxham, Caister-on-Sea and Dereham.

Proctor agrees that his (and the club’s) partners are genuine lovers of the shale sport.

The former Lynn vice-captain added: “I think that they’re doing it for the right reasons in terms of speedway, you know. Other people do it for exposure and stuff like that.

“I imagine Alex and Minors & Brady aren’t doing it for the exposure but in the same context, they’re doing it for the best of the sport, and the good of the sport and they want to help the sport develop as well, which is really important.”
