Remaining King's Lynn Town fixtures cancelled as National League season is ended

LEARN MOREKing's Lynn Town Football Club's season has officially ended today, after National League bosses announced that all remaining fixtures will be cancelled.
The Linnets have not played for more than five weeks, and would have been preparing to complete their league programme this weekend, under normal circumstances.
But, in light of the coronavirus pandemic, clubs were asked to vote earlier this month on whether to bring the season to an end.
Linnets chairman Stephen Cleeve has already revealed that he backed the idea.
And National League bosses have said this lunchtime that, with around 10 per cent of clubs still to respond, a "clear majority" was in favour of scrapping the remaining games.
Although clubs who have not voted will still have the chance to do so, officials say today's announcement is intended to help them make decisions about their immediate futures.
The league's chief executive, Michael Tattersall, said in a statement: “At a time when the entire country is wrestling with the devastating impact of Covid-19, the cancellation of the remaining normal season matches brings a degree of certainty to our clubs coping with the business implications of the virus.”
Attention is now set to turn to the question of how the season should formally be concluded, with clubs again set to be asked for their views on the issue.
Divisions below National League North have already had their results expunged by the FA - a move which caused widespread anger and could yet be the subject of legal action.
Voiding is one option, though it is likely to be fiercely resisted by clubs including Lynn, who would be promoted if positions were calculated on an average points per game basis.
The league's statement said: "The options concerning the sporting outcomes of the 2019-20 season remain under careful and timely consideration, and further updates will be given in due course."
