Busy weekend of action for West Norfolk running group
A magnificent seven Renegade Runners travelled to Freethorpe, near Yarmouth, on Sunday to take part in the Annual Freethorpe 10-mile road race.
This was the opening race of the Sportslink Norfolk road running Grand Prix series.
On an already testing hilly course, it was made doubly difficult by the strong winds and cold weather.
But all seven athletes returned home in good times.
Darren Easter was first back in 64.57 for 36th overall and 7th M45.
Martyn Benstead and Steve Eke ran together in 78.26 for 225th and 226th place, and was especially delighted with a big pb.
Jonny Cockerill made his debut over the distance as part of his training schedule set by the Renegades founder Matt Pyatt for the London Marathon.
Cockerill ran very well, coming 234th in 78.44.
Lawrence Matthews, another debutant, did superbly coming 608th in 143.39.
And Claire Gayton also performed admirably with Martin Elsegood, a Renegade member who prefers the longer distance.
Gayton was 631st in 1.48.04 with Elsegood just behind in 634th in a time of 1.48.25.
