West start slowly and on receiving end of a numerous converted Wisbech penalties
Wisbech 21 West Norfolk 15
In a heated local derby that contained no fewer than four yellow cards, West Norfolk failed to take their chances against a tough Wisbech side.
Similar to the previous week, West started slowly and found themselves on the receiving end of a number of converted Wisbech penalties.
However, West eventually regrouped and a well-taken lineout by Matt Addison led to a driving maul allowing No.8 Ash Colvin to crash over the line.
Some big tackles from both sides led to some heated encounters leading up to half-time, with fly half Sam Moses and captain Adam Fox leading the defensive effort.
With Wisbech leading at half-time, the game didn’t lose any of its intensity with more big tackles from both teams.
Wisbech added a try of their own before some quick passing by Sam Moses and centre Mark Tilbrook released winger Charlie Moore to score in the corner for West.
Wisbech added a further try before some quick thinking by scrum half Hayden Revell meant he managed to intercept a pass from a Wisbech lineout and score a breakaway try for West.
Going into the final few minutes a number of incidents meant Wisbech were given three yellow cards in as many minutes.
West kicked for the corner and tried to play from the resulting lineout, however a controversial end to the game from a knock- on meant Wisbech were able to hold out for the win.
West’s Adrian Flux man-of-the-match was No. 8 Ash Colvin.
West look to end their recent run of poor league form against Thurston at home next weekend.
