Pelicans seconds end 2019 on a winning note




Sam Kent was on target twice as Pelicans men’s seconds wrapped up the first half of the season with a 3-0 victory over Ipswich and East Suffolk seconds.

Kent has now found the back of the net an impressive 25 times in ten games for the side, with Harry Fox also on the scoresheet.

The men’s thirds won 5-3 on the road against IES fifths with Steve Long (3), Graham Brooks and Andy Todd all scoring.

Pelicans' men’s fourths drew 1-1 against top-of-the-table Norfolk Nomads seconds to erase the memories of the 6-1 defeat earlier in the season.

A shout out goes to Dan Mihalov, who scored his first senior goal for the club, while Sid Arkle was named as man-of-the-match.

Nikki Lankfer was on target as Pelicans' ladies suffered a heavy 6-1 defeat at Saffron Waldron.

The ladies seconds lost 4-2 to a strong Loddon side, where all the team played really well.

Goals were scored by Tracy Brown and Bianca Fraulo-Hilario and captain Jane Hughes commented that she was impressed with their play.

Players-of-the-match were Charlotte Skerry and Bianca Fraulo-Hilario.

The club’s girls' development team travelled the long distance to East Coast and thanks go to Glebe School for use of their mini bus.

The youngsters produced a great team performance and morale is high in the group.

The game finished 2-2 with Martha and Chloe scoring for Pelicans after some great passing before both goals.

Manager Tony Meek commented that everyone played out of their skins.

The development team consisted of Arran Woodcock, Mabel Crane, Olivia Fidler, Emily Narramore, Martha Broad, Olivia Reynolds, Darcy Copping Tony Meek, Chloe Richardson, Hannah Howes, Tabitha Meek, Cerys Millard, Esther Broad, Gracie-Mae Meek and Carla Lewis.
