Sandringham and Dersingham 3rds defeat Castle Rising in Norfolk Cricket League derby clash
Meteorologically, it was the first day of summer, but spring rain still had a say as eight games in the Norfolk Cricket League succumbed to the elements.
But the Level 3W derby clash between Castle Rising 2nds and Sandringham and Dersingham 3rds was one game to beat the weather.
In a low-scoring affair, Paul Kaminski and Farhan Mahmud both made 18 as the home side were reduced to 94 for 5 off of their 45 overs.
Andrew Chinniah picked up three wickets in the Dersingham & Sandringham 3rds reply but an eighth-wicket stand of 21 between Mark White and Paul Davies saw the visitors home with 10 overs to spare.
Gooderstone are now third in the table after a four-wicket success at Hingham 2nds.
In Level 1W, Sam Naughname took 5-22 as Beeston lost to Castle Rising by one-wicket in the basement battle.
Vishaka Lokesh Bettadahalli registered a vital 25 with the bat after picking up the wickets of both Beeston openers as the home side were bowled out for just 85.
But Snettisham prevailed with their last pair at the crease during a thrilling one-wicket success over Drayton, Danny Suckling's unbeaten 37 with the bat proving crucial in the final outcome.
In Level 2W, Ketteringham Hall won to move clear at the top.
Anthony Sadler’s 77 saw Sandringham home and dry by 72 runs against Aylsham St Giles.
Swaffham and New Buckenham tied, Liam Exley hitting 87 not out for the hosts, Richard Halfacree replying with 60.
Josh Downes (83 not out) and Greg Harding (57 not out) saw Hardingham to victory over Thornham.
In Level 4, Downham Stow 4ths are flying high after a resounding nine-wicket win at near-neighbours Denver.
Grimston's unbeaten start ended as they went down to Mundofrd 2nds by 17 runs (see Friday's Lynn News for full report) while Bircham 2nds thrashed their counterparts from Beeston by 102 runs.
Narborough 2nds edged out Thornham 2nds by 22 runs while a youthful North Runcton 3rds outfit lost to Saham Toney by nine wickets in their home game at Terrington St Clement.
Downham Stow 4ths are now the new leaders with Bircham 2nds sitting pretty in third.
Grimston's defeat sees them drop to fourth in the league standings.
