Snettisham hit the opposition for six in Norfolk Women’s Softball Cricket League
Eight-a-side teams from Snettisham, Gt Witchingham, Bircham and Dereham massed at Snettisham for the latest round of matches in the new Norfolk Women’s Softball Cricket League.
The round-robin format with every team playing each other once saw Snettisham ladies emerge victorious with three wins from as many games.
Throughout the summer each of the competing clubs will be hosting round-robin league matches with a view to reaching a finals day at Norfolk headquarters at Horsford at the end of the summer.
Snettisham Cricket Club chairman Tim Clarey commended all of the women’s teams for not only their sporting prowess but also their great conduct on a highly competitive and enjoyable afternoon.
Those gathered were treated to a masterclass of six-hitting by all of the teams involved, including an audacious reverse swept six by Snettisham captain Michelle Knott.
Next stop is Bradenham on Sunday.
Tiffany Turner, who kindly volunteered to play for Gt Witchingham as they were a couple of players short, scored 36 off one over while Snettisham’s Georgie Lingham (SCC) sent balls flying into the nearby woods.
Thanks to all the volunteers who made the day run without a hitch while it was great to see ladies who haven’t played any cricket before take part and thoroughly enjoy the game.
