Snettisham racer claims three Clubman class wins at Brands Indy circuit.

Snettisham race ace Callum Manley marked his first weekend on a 1000cc machine with three class wins at the Brands Indy circuit.

It was the first time that Manley had competed on his new ZX10r after making the move to the 1000cc machine following a dominant year on his 600cc last season.

With only having had two track days on the bigger machine, Manley was hoping to use Friday’s practice sessions to acquaint himself with the bike.

However, he had numerous teething issues with the bike which unfortunately meant he could only get out for two sessions, one in the wet and one in the dry.

When qualifying came around on Saturday morning Manley got in some good laps, really getting the feel for his machine, his strong laps put him P1 in the Clubman class.

The Clubman 1000s share a grid with the more experienced powerbike racers (the top class at BMCRC) so Manley’s qualifying time saw him in the mix near the top end of the powerbikes too, starting P9 overall on the grid.

Race one and Manley did not get away from the line well after his launch control struggled to engage.

This saw him lose several places off the line and in the first lap, but he soon settled into the bike and began making his way

through the field again to finish P1 in class with a 13-second lead over P2 and P4 overall.

As he lined up on the grid for the second race of the day he went to engage neutral on his machine only to find the gear selector had broken to leave him with a DNS.

There were two races on the programme on Sunday, but due to not setting a lap time in the previous race Manley had to line his ZX10 in P25 on the grid for the first and very wet, race of the day.

Not fazed by the conditions, Manley launched his machine off the line to gain nine places by the first turn, he then put in an impressive first lap to gain a further four places by the end of lap one.

He continued with his impressive ride to finish P1 in class and P4 overall.

His impressive performance allowed him to line his machine up in P5 overall on the starting grid for the second race of Sunday.

A masterclass of making the transition from a 600cc to a 1000cc bike ensued as Manley finished P3 overall and P1 in class with a 30.9-second lead over P2 in class.

Manley, who is currently sponsored by Bec’s Sweets, Harrison Music, NK Bateman Water Services, AVWUK and All in Supplements, will be out in action again this weekend at Snetterton with No Limits Racing.
