Snettisham's Phil is second in class

Snettisham driver Phil Wright capped a fantastic season on the track by finishing second in class in the Royal Purple Hot Hatch Championship.

Competing on his local track of Snetterton, Wright qualified in pole position and took his place on the grid for the race that afternoon.

His lap times got better and better during the testing session on Friday and this was justified by a quick start in his opening outing.

But a bad crash into the barriers dashed his hopes for top spot in the championship.

With help from family and friends, Wright put his car back together for his last race the following morning.

Starting 28th and last on the grid, Wright raced through the pack to finish fourth overall and second in class by the time the checkered flag fell.

His charge up the field saw him set the fastest lap in the process.

Wright, who is due to compete in the Civic Cup at the Derbyshire Circuit of Donington Park this weekend, is supported by Luke Loades of Rounce and Evans Property Management and Shaun Hagen of Shaun Hagen Motor Services.

Wright also passes on his thanks to Selina Automotive, All Signs and The Anglia Tool Centre.
