First-race incident costs West Norfolk driver in Disklok Civic Cup

Civic racer Phil Wright made his debut at the stunning Cheshire track of Oulton Park on Saturday at the second round of the Disklok Civic Cup.

Difficult weather conditions on Friday testing proved awkward for setting up the car but, despite this, Snettisham’s Wright overcame everything on the Saturday morning to place his Honda fourth on the grid.

With a superb getaway, Wright maintained his position around the first few corners but an incident at the hairpin badly damaged his car and pushed him wide of the track.

By the time he had rejoined the track Wright found himself in 26th place. However, with an amazing drive for the rest of the race, he reovered for 13th.

In race two, Wright drove well and passed five cars to finish eighth by the time he crossed the line.

The next round is at Anglesey International on June 9.

Wright is supported By Luke Loades, of Rounce and Evans Property Management, and Shaun Hagen, of Shaun Hagen Motor Services. Thanks also to Selina Automotive, All Signs and The Anglia Tool Centre.
