So, how do you pronounce King’s Lynn Stars’ exciting winter speedway signing Peter Kildemand’s name?

Well, Lynn team manager Alex Brady, who admits his Danish is not great and says maybe five Premiership clubs were chasing the Grand Prix veteran’s signature, confirmed it’s not ‘Kil-de-manned’ but ‘Killer-man’.

Furthermore, Nigel Pearson and fellow Eurosport commentator Kelvin Tatum MBE, who returned with their show to the Adrian Flux Arena a fortnight ago, did a ‘bit’ at a previous Lynn outing about the Dane’s name, and yes, the ‘Killer-man’ pronunciation came up.

Brady said of the 32-year-old: “‘Killer-man’ is technically how you say it, yes, but he’s told me he’s happy to be ‘Kildemand’. He has no problem with that.

“My Danish isn’t great, I have to be honest – English I struggle with at times as well – but he will be a good and great signing.

“I’m really pleased to have him on board with us.”

The Minors & Brady Stars boss continued: “We were one of four, perhaps even five, clubs who were trying to sign him and the main reason he came to King’s Lynn was because of the track.

“He loves the track here. He likes it and it suits his style down to the ground.

“Plenty of grip, plenty of dirt and the right racing lines as well.

“I have to say I was supported really well by Buster (owner Keith Chapman) and Dale (Allitt, co-promoter) as well.

“I identified my targets and they gave me the ammunition to go out and get them.”

Kildemand had added in a message to the fans: “I’m happy to join King’s Lynn.

“It’s going to be a big season for the team and for me. It’s one of the nicest and best racing tracks in the UK so I’m really looking forward to it.

“I’m going to be racing there every week and really looking forward to this.

“I’m going to enjoy it and hopefully you’re going to enjoy watching me too.”
