King’s Lynn Young Stars have completed the signing of James Cockle, who will spearhead the team with Tom Stokes next season.

The experienced racer, who took over the club captaincy at the end of last season, will return as the Young Stars new number one for 2015.

The signing of Cockle means that the team is over half complete with Stokes, Josh Bailey and Ryan Kinsley also signed up for next season.

Team manager Dale Allitt expressed his delight at being able to keep hold of Cockle.

He said: “James had a good end to the season for us and was scoring well. He found confidence in his engines and I believe that he can get even better next season.

“Our thanks go to James’s parent club Glasgow for their co-operation in completing the deal. I knew I wanted James back soon after last season finished and I am pleased we have been able to do that.”

The news of Cockle returning to the Young Stars comes after the completion of the National League AGM which took place on Tuesday.

The 2015 National League champions will be decided over the course of 18 meetings in the old traditional format of the team finishing top of the league – and the top four will then enter a stand-alone Gold Cup competition at the end of the season.

The all-important points limit for team building purposes has been set at 36 points and a minimum limit has also been introduced at 30.

The race format remains unchanged from 2014 and the tactical ride rule is now the same as Premier League regulations – one per meeting and not available in aggregate ties.
