Lynn left Belle Vue’s Kirkmanshulme Lane empty-handed following a 55-35 defeat on Monday night.

Nicklas Porsing and Niels-Kristian Iversen gave the Stars the perfect start with a 5-1 in the opening race, but their lead had disappeared by the fourth heat as the hosts pulled the scores level with back-to-back heat advantages in Heats three and four.

Lynn went behind for the first time after the fifth race as Porsing was only able to split the Aces pair. A win from Iversen in Heat 6 with Vaclav Milik fending off Josh Grajczonek was enough to pull the scores level, but it didn’t last long as the Aces hit back with a 5-1 ahead of Kenneth Bjerre in Heat 7 and they moved eight points clear with another 5-1 in the eighth.

The Stars’ hopes of getting something out of the meeting were fading fast and when the Aces scored a 4-2 and 5-1 in Heats 10 and 11, they were 14 points behind with four races left.

The gap between the sides was increased in the final stages with Iversen trying his best in Heat 13, but only managing to split Belle Vue’s top pairing. The final race went the way of the Aces via another 5-1.

Team boss Rob Lyon, who celebrates his 50th birthday this weekend, said: “We kept it tight early on but Belle Vue were the better team on the night.”

Aces: Nicholls 13, Fricke 10+1, Zagar 8+2, Grajczonek 7+1, Worrall 7+1, Cook 6, Nielsen 4+2.

Stars: Iversen 9+1, Kerr 5+1, Porsing 5, Kyle Howarth (G) 5, Bjerre 5, Milik 4, Morris 2.
