Round Norfolk Relay to be sponsored by Officescape

Officescape will be the headline sponsor of the 34th Round Norfolk Relay, to be held over the weekend of September 14/15.

The company stated: “As a commercial office fit-out company based in Watlington, near Downham Market, wellbeing and teamwork are important both to us and our clients.

"Sponsoring the Round Norfolk Relay this year and sharing our enthusiasm for wellbeing and teamwork with all the clubs and teams taking part, is a tremendous honour.”

Founded in 1987, the Round Norfolk Relay is a unique 24-hour running event held annually in September.

The 198-mile course is divided into 17 multi-terrain stages and follows the county boundary of Norfolk.

Starting from the Lynnsport complex in Lynn, the race heads out along the picturesque North Norfolk Coastal Path via Hunstanton, Wells, Cromer and Great Yarmouth, before turning inland for several long night stages through Bungay, Thetford and Downham, and finally finishing back on the track at Lynnsport on the Sunday morning.

“Running one of the closing stages as the sun rises and the birds start waking is something very special,” says Ian Longland of Officescape, an experienced endurance runner who has previously taken part in the relay with Haverhill RC.

“Apart from the London Marathon, for me the Round Norfolk Relay is the most exciting race of the year.”

Between 55 and 60 teams compete each year.

Most are fielded by athletics clubs from around East Anglia, all imbued with a spirit of adventure.

Around 1,000 runners participate, together with an equal number of volunteers including marshals, timekeepers, cyclists and support crews.
