King's Lynn students meet British Olympian

Young athletes at a Lynn school were inspired when they met a British Olympian, who gave a talk about her achievements before putting them through their sporting paces.

Students from Years 7 to 10 at Springwood High School had the opportunity to meet Norfolk-born shot putter Sophie McKinna, who won silver medals in the 2011 World Youth Championships and 2013 European Junior Championships, as well as competing for Britain in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Some then had the chance to receive training tips and advice from the athletics star, putting theory into practice.

“Having an Olympian visit also helps inspire our young sports people, demonstrates potential career pathways in this area, and connects students to the upcoming Olympics this year.”
