Race night switch by King’s Lynn in Rowe Motor Oil Premiership will benefit all parties in 2025

The King's Lynn Stars have revealed the reasons behind switching their race night to a Monday in the Rowe Motor Oil Premiership next season.

The PSH Environmental Stars have moved away from Thursday, which has been the regular race night in recent seasons, and we feel the move has several benefits.

From a league perspective as a whole, it will lead to a far more balanced fixture list as in 2024 five of the clubs in the Premiership had Thursday as their primary night, with just two on a Monday.

Next season the split will be more even, although of course there will still be occasions when Thursday clubs stage meetings on Mondays – especially for TV fixtures – whilst we still have Thursdays available as an alternative if, for example, we require a re-arrangement against a fellow Monday track.

For the club itself, our riders who also race in Poland will now not have regular Thursday home fixtures in the UK, and there are at least two riders in our team for whom having Monday home matches was a major advantage in terms of us being able to sign them for 2025.

The league will be working closely with Poland to eliminate clashes on Thursdays following the announcement of an agreement between BSPL and Ekstraliga, with a maximum of only one televised Polish fixture per round taking place on a Thursday, rather than two which was originally suggested.

Overall we expect the switch to Mondays to enable us to bring greater consistency to the fixture list, which benefits both riders and supporters.

The club are currently working on pricing structures for 2025 and expects to have news on season tickets in the near future.

Lynn have also acknowledged and accepted the recent apology issued by former promoter and team manager Alex Brady.

This was about public comments made in December 2023.

We are pleased to now be able to draw a line under the matter, enabling all parties to move forward and look ahead to what promises to be a very exciting 2025 season.
