Swaffham too strong for Snettisham in last four of Broke Cup
Swaffham cricketers booked their place in the final of the Mid Norfolk League Broke Cup with a 44-run success at Snettisham on Sunday.
After losing the toss, Swaffham overcame a sticky start to book their place in the final where they will meet Norwich.
At one stage with the bat, Swaffham found themselves in trouble at 48 for 4 before visiting Liam Exley (41), Josh Pirie (43) and Joe Friend (18 not out) guided them to a respectable 168 for 7 from 30 overs.
In reply, Snettisham were restricted to 124 for 9 as they fell 45 runs short of the required target.
There will be no West Norfolk representatives in the Challenge Cup this season after Downham Stow were beaten by Barney and Fulmodeston on the same day.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, Downham Stow put the early dismissal of Olly Hooker behind them as William Denny (20) and Arthur Wilcox (27) rebuilt the home side's innings.
Liam Muggeridge (45) and Jack Stacey (24 not out) were both in good form with the bat as Downham Stow ended their 40 overs on 157 for 8.
All of Barney and Fulmodeston's top order made double-figures despite Owen Stacey and Muggeridge helping themselves to two wickets each.
Phoenix Sherry, who plays for Fakenham on a Saturday, ensured there was no slip up in the Barney reply with an unbeaten 38 as the visitors sealed a four-wicket success with more than eight overs to spare.
