Heacham Table Tennis Club Internal League

Adrian’s Oldstars’ big win in the doubles format knocks Hunnys Heroes off the top spot in the combination leagues, writes Malc Diggins.

The Oldstars are now just one point ahead of the double-chasing Heroes. Next the two teams meet and then just one more match before the end of the season.

The Oldstars Mike Nobes and Mick Minns were joined by super sub Mike Cooper in their 9-0 win over Vips, who had Jim Race, Kim Mann and super sub Jim Duncan on board.

Once again there were some close matches but the Oldstars were determined to put pressure on the Heroes as they were playing on the next table.

Hunnys Heroes had a gigantic struggle against The Outlaws with five and four-enders a plenty. Never more than a point in it from start to finish, the match was 4-4 with the final game to play. For the Heroes it was unbeaten pairing on the night, Graham Keeley and Rob Yarrow, and for the Outlaws their unbeaten pair were Keith and Vanessa Thompson.

The Outlaws just could not match the Heroes, who just edged home 5-4, to cause an upset.

Malc’s Marvels hold on to third spot after their 7-2 win over Spivs. The Marvels had Eileen Needham joined by super subs Ian Rix and Janice Howell; for Spivs Stephen Jackson, Chris Griggs and super sub Ron Kendal. Rix and Howell were the only unbeaten pairing.
