Grimston beat Snettisham in Kevin Grimmer Division clash in Mid Norfolk Sunday League

Sunday saw Grimston and Snettisham go head-to-head in a second-against-third-place match in the Kevin Grimmer Division.

Snettisham CC were under-strength due to scheduling commitments, whilst Grimston had almost their full-strength line-up available.

Captain Mark Tilbrook won the toss and batted first, opening the batting alongside Mark Pickering.

When Pickering was dismissed for 23 runs, Tilbrook had already scored 87 and the total was 113 – the writing was on the wall for Snettisham as Tilbrook continued to obliterate the bowling attack, eventually finishing on 185, caught by Jake Lammas from the bowling of Charlie Lavvaf.

Josh Leverett-King added 26 to the total and Liam Burt contributed a useful 12 runs.

Lavvaf took two wickets for Snettisham, as Grimston finished on 299/5.

With a mountain to climb, Snettisham could never get out of first gear.

Jamie Wing scored 43 runs from his 27 balls, but the remainder of the Snettisham batting line-up struggled to fire in the face of a Miles Harris bowling masterclass.

Belying his tender years of 14, Harris bowled with guile and craft to take 5 wickets for only 13 runs, putting him in contention for Norfolk’s bowling honours board.

Snettisham finished with 77 all-out.

Captain Tilbrook was realistic about his team’s performance, saying: “Snettisham had a makeshift team today, and we know how good they are at full strength after thrashing us earlier in the season

"I’m delighted for Miles getting his first five-wicket haul for Grimston and I had a good day with the bat.”

Grimston now sit top of the league with a handful of games to go.
