Pedlars make it seven wins on the bounce in league action

Swaffham Town made it seven league wins on the bounce in Thurlow Nunn Division One North as they fired six goals past Ipswich Wanderers at the weekend.

The Pedlars notched six goals at Humber Doucy Lane to maintain their promotion push with just three games remaining of the campaign.

Paul Hunt’s side know that three wins from as many matches would confirm promotion to the Premier Division.

Joe Jackson opening the scoring in the 11th minute at Suffolk after being played through by Callum South and slotting home from 12 yards.

Ryan Pearson made it 2-0 five minutes before the interval, heading a Danny Tindall free-kick onto the woodwork before netting the rebound.

Jackson netted the goal of the game in the dying seconds of the half after lobbing the goalkeeper from 12 yards following a Kyle Plumb pass.

Luis Duarte made it 4-0 on the hour-mark, volleying in across goal into the right-hand corner, before the hosts reduced the arrears three minutes later.

Jackson completed his hat-trick two minutes later, cashing in on a poor clearance, and Ben Coe completed the scoring in the 69th minute after coming on as substitute for Luis Duarte.

Downham Town, who were without nine first team regulars through injury and unavailability, ground out a hard-fought victory over Cornard United at the Memorial Field.

Both Nathan Cross and George Sharp were on target as Downham ran out 2-1 winners to move two points behind Lakenheath in the top eight of the league standings.

Both King’s Lynn Town Reserves and Fakenham Town were without a fixture at the weekend.
