North Runcton make it three wins on the bounce with victory over Acle
Captain Ben Coote was man of the match for the second week running as North Runcton beat Acle by 50 runs in the Norfolk Alliance Premier Division on Saturday to make it three wins on the trot.
Coote followed up last week’s century with 84 not out (13 fours) and then helped skittle out the visitors with 5-24 in his 10 overs.
The home team elected to bat but found scoring not so easy againt under 19 opening fast medium bowler Matt Buttery and wiley old campaigner Muhammad Uzair who was Acle’s stand out player.
Buttery did not take a wicket but impressed with 0-25 off seven overs whilst Uzair accounted for four of the top five Runcton batsmen, taking 4-33 off 10 overs.
After losing four wickets for 65 Coote was joined by Kirwin Christoffels and these two put together a winning partnership of 125 with Christoffels in exquisite form using his feet against the spinners to make 70 off 74 balls before missing one from Geoff Handley and being stumped by Craig Press. The innings closed at 214-8 after 50 overs.
In response the visitors were soon in trouble with Coote taking all five wickets in his first spell of seven overs.
Jamie White took a brilliant diving catch to dismiss Tom Wilson and Lucas Triffitt took three catches in the deep.
At 70-7 Acle looked well and truly beaten but the tail wagged with Matt Buttery 35, Shaun Roberts 23 and Uzair 26 boosting their score to 164.
For Runcton, other wicket takers were Christoffels 1-31 Michael Annakin 1-25 Lucas Triffitt 2-47 and Owen White 1-16.
