Thurlow Nunn League: leaders Downham beat Fakenham while Swaffham win at ex-King's Lynn and Norwich City Grant Holt's Wroxham

Thurlow Nunn League: Downham 2 Fakenham 1

Goals from Matthew Calvert and Jack Frohawk ensured the hosts retained their spot at the summit of Division One after this derby at the Memorial Field on Tuesday.

This was Downham's first home league game of the season – they traditionally have to wait until the town cricket team finishes their fixtures – and they completed a swift double over Fakenham Town.

A Frohawk brace had seen off The Ghosts on August 13 at Clipbush Park.

This also produced a seventh clean sheet in eight league games this season for Downham.

A game of few chances and not much action.

Downham took the lead after just five minutes.

Early in the second half a good save from away 'keeper Bates foiled the home team.

However Downham doubled their advantage just before the hour mark.

Midway through the second period, Ghosts Andrew Skipper was subbed off to be replaced by Alby Matthews, who struck with fewer than ten minutes on the pitch.

The substitute scored with a header.

In the last ten minutes Youngs with a flick and a shot from Beazer went close for the visitors, but Downham hung on to preserve their lead at the top.
