King's Lynn Town book a home time against Dover Athletic following replay win at Hereford

FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round replay

Hereford 0 King's Lynn Town 3

King's Lynn Town booked an FA Trophy first round tie at home to National Premier outfit Dover Athletic after seeing off Hereford at Edgar Street.

Two goals in the opening seven minutes from Rory McAuley and Ross Barrows gave the Linnets the ideal platform to progress against the Bulls before substitute Sonny Carey sealed matters in the final five minutes.

The Walks outfit, who also struck the woodwork three times on the night, got off to the best possible start when a Michael Clunan corner was headed home powerfully by Rory McAuley at the far post with just five minutes on the clock.

Lynn were in dreamland three minutes later after Barrows was on hand to fire home a loose ball after the visitors had struck the woodwork following a Clunan free-kick.

The Bulls looked to respond quickly and their first corner of the game saw Alex Street save on the line from Jordan Cullinane-Liburd.

Two minutes later, Brandon Hall denied Barrows with a fine reflex stop as the Linnets looked to put the tie well beyond Hereford's reach.

Leading scorer Adam Marriott had a couple of half-chances to extend Lynn's lead further but they were forced to settle for a two-goal advantage going into the break.

Hereford introduced Jordan Nicholson into the fray for the start of the second half and the frontman was denied by a fine save from Street five minutes after the restart.

A minute later, Hereford were awarded a penalty after Peter Vincenti was bundled over by Michael Gash in the box but Vincenti's spot-kick was well kept out by Street.

Marriott missed another chance to kill the tie ten minutes into the second period after capitalising on a sloppy pass from the hosts and forcing Hall into a stop.

The hosts enjoyed the better of the second half.

Lynn went closest to increasing their lead in the final 20 minutes when McAuley's bullet header came back off the post before Carey added a late third to clinch a comfortable victory.
