Tag festival at West Norfolk Rugby Club's Gatehouse Lane enjoyed by 24 school teams
Last week 24 school teams took part in the SSP (School Sport Partnership) Tag Rugby Festival hosted by West Norfolk Rugby Club at Gatehouse Lane.
The event was a developmental non-scoring festival to allow players of very differing abilities to play against each other without the pressure of scores being recorded or wins and loses being tallied.
As a result great fun was had by everyone and great improvements were made over the course of the day.
All matches were refereed and coached by a team of Sports Leaders who had recently completed a tag rugby referee course as part of their membership to the West Norfolk Sports Leadership Academy.
Feedback from visiting staff was that the Leaders were enthusiastic, knowledgeable and really helped the players to learn and improve.
The leaders came from KES Academy, St Clements High School and Downham Market Academy.
Schools taking part in the festival were: Whitefriars, Holly Meadows, Middleton, North Wootton (two teams), Howard Junior, Hillcrest (x2), Ashwicken, Gayton, West Lynn, Sandringham & WN, Fairstead (x2), Flitcham, Holy Cross, Docking, Riverside, Denver, Downham Prep (x2), St Martha's (x2) and Heacham Junior.
